　慰霊と平和の花火の取り組みのメイン会場は水道公園です

水道タンクは高い建築物で、長岡空襲の際に避難方向の目印とされ、すべて焼失した中で、今も残る貴重な建築物です。 ハワイ真珠湾に今も沈んだままになっている戦艦アリゾナは慰霊の役割を果たしていますが、水道タンクもやはり慰霊をするにふさわしい建物かと思います。  
  • 水道タンクは平成10年9月に、ポンプ室棟・予備発電機室棟・監視室棟は平成25年12月に国の登録有形文化財に登録
  • 公園内には東屋やベンチがあり、市民の憩いの場になっています。
  • 映画のロケ地やプロモーションビデオの撮影地にもなりました。
