朝が明けるのを待って、被災地上空を飛んだリポーターが叫んでいる。暗闇の中で大地震が連続したその翌朝。テレビ画面は、山が崩れ、棚田が流され、家がつぶされているさまを次々と映し出した。

長岡から山古志村へ一時帰村するシーンは約３００人の地元エキストラ。
旧闘牛場のシーンも約５００人の地元エキストラ。

栃木ロケのメインとなった鴻野山の牧草地は、新潟県山古志村(当時)の原っぱという設定で、劇中に何度も登場する、とても印象的かつ重要なシーンの舞台となりました。
